Reaction Essay: The Hunger Games

     In Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games”, the main idea shows us how relationships make your plight better. When they prepare for the hunger games, the female protagonist Katniss’ tutor Haymitch teach them “the goal to win the game is to make people love you.” Katniss obtained sympathy from her designer Chinna because she participated in the game as a volunteer to take the place of her sister Primrose, and Chinna designed an amazing appearances clothing to help her made sponsors remember and love her. It is very important because sponsors could give “tributes” sponsored commodity in the game.

      During the hunger games, the male protagonist Peeta who was from the same district with Katniss joined a team with other “tributes” at the beginning of the game to save his life. Rue, who was a girl looks like Katniss’ sister, saved Katniss when she was hunted down from this team. Then, they made a team together to destroy those team’s substances. They successfully destroyed those team’s substances, but in this action, Rue fell into the trap and dead. Move over, organizers changed the rule that two people who from the same district can win together in the game. Katniss found Peeta and used “sadness lovers” relationship to make many sponsors and audiences like them, and gave them some substances. Finally, Katniss and Peeta won the hunger game together.

       I believe “The Hunger Games” is one of the best novels I’ve ever read, and I think everyone should read it. I think that because this book does a good job of showing how important and useful to make the relationships, and help people learn to make the relationship in their daily life.

      For example, when I was in my high school Student Union, I made a big mistake in my job, but my relationships saved me because I had a good relationship with our chairman and instructors. When the bad thing happened, they helped me a lot to reduce the bad influence and gave me some advices about how to avoid those mistakes. 

       Likewise when people work in a business company, if they have a good relationship with their boss and colleagues, it wills becomes easier for them to start their jobs. Also, because they have a good relationship with their boss and colleagues, a lot of people will come to help them solve the problem when they meet problems.  Those two examples show that making the relationship is very important and useful in our daily life. 

      Thus, in “The Hunger Games” I learned a lot of knowledge about using relationship to make a better life, and I am sure many other people also learned some relationship knowledge from this book. It is a great story that gets you thinking about how to make a relationship, and it is a story that helps remind you the important significance about making relationships.

For this project I studied some positive and negative aspects to our society.

This is a an important issue because globalization’s effect is becoming more and more important to our society. Also, globalization is inevitable with human development, and globalization plays an important role in the development of society.

This project presents my findings and hopefully acts as a guide for you to learn more about this topic. First, here is a video I made that briefly summarizes the issue and my thoughts on the topic. I have also provided some vocabulary words I came across that I think are important to understanding this topic. Argument essay: Globalization in our society

Globalization is inevitable with economic development, and globalization plays an important role in the development of society. It improves economical development and makes countries around the world more connected with others. Certainly, globalization has a big impact on economy, technology, socio-cultural communication and politics in our society. However, some people may also say that globalization has generated serious international concerns. They believe that it would increase inequality and inflation rate. Whereas, I believed globalization has more positive aspects than negative aspects to our society.

Many people criticize that globalization hurts some developing countries’ economy, but they did not consider that globalization also helps growing the world’s economy. First, globalization leads to global competition. In this case, domestic companies have not only competition in their home area, but also in international regions. Because of this, they have to raise their standards for their customers to satisfy in order to survive in the market. Also, because of the idea “survival of the fittest”, an international company must improve their quality of products to attract consumers when they come into a new country’s market. Thus, globalization improves the quality of products and makes more consumers to promote the consumption of the growing economy.

Furthermore, in some developing countries, lacking of capital - which most companies depend on - blocks the growth of domestic companies. Also, there are lots of domestic companies that go bankrupt and many people lost their jobs in developing countries. However, globalization attracts some investments in developing countries and solved capital problems, so people get more job opportunities in those countries. Certainly, it helps growing the economy of developing countries. All of those shows that globalization help developing countries solved capital problems and improve their economy.

While some people worry that globalization can bring some negative aspects to our society, it increases the inflation rate and makes people living in the different place unequal. The worst aspect of globalization is the increasing inflation rate. It makes a lot of companies go bankrupt and so many people lose their jobs. At the same time, the prices remain in a high level. People cannot get the deserved remuneration. Then, people lose the confidence in the government. The increasing inflation rate makes the society unstable and will cause many crimes. Moreover, globalizations exacerbate unequal in different countries. It forces some developing countries to join in the global competition. Of course, they cannot compete with developed countries. People are tended to buy the products with good quality, which can only provided by the developed countries. In this case, the richer counties can benefit more from the globalization and become even richer. The economy gap between developed countries and developing countries will get bigger. Therefore, it produces some unequal in developing countries.

Nevertheless, some negative aspects of globalization can be avoided and solved by some methods. For example, governments can raise the personal tax threshold to relieve increasing inflation rate. Also, some state - owned enterprises can raise employees’ salaries to make the people's life easier. In this case, they will work contentedly and minimize the bad impact of the expansion rates. Likewise, for the unequal problem, developing countries can join some trade organizations, like WTO. Those organizations have some rules to keep the trade equal and protect every country’s profit. Otherwise, developing countries can patent applications to protect intellectual property rights. Thus, some bad aspects of globalization can be avoided and solved.

Globalization’s effect is becoming more and more important to our society. How it affects us now is that it changes our life everywhere. I argued that globalization is more positive or negative to our society because it not only improves the world economy and technology, but also causes many problems to our society.  However, I believe that globalization has more positive aspects to our society. It grows the world economy and many problems can be solved by different methods. Last but not least, without a doubt, globalization makes our society more different than before, so we should use globalization to make a better society.

Annotated Bibliography for Globalization to our society

In the article “Globalization with its possitive and negative aspects ,” author Nguyen Manh Tuan explains how globalization affects our word on both social and economic aspects. In the first part of the article, he introduced the definition, which is “globalization is the process of growing integration of economies and societies around the world.” He also gives us an example about how after joining the WTO, Vietnam has attracted many foreign investors and it has affected all aspects of Vietnamese daily life. Moverover, the author explain the positive effects about globalization. These are the development of the economy, the improvment of the quality life, and foeign trade becoming easier. Furthermore, the article told us some negative effects about globalization, like it increases inequality between different countries, increases environmental degradation and increases inflation rate. Finally, the author said we should use globalization to make our country better because it can be a good chance for development and prosperity of our country.

Are we doing enough to sustain our environment?

I am going to talk about "We use the solar energy to replace coal resources."

In the past of China, people used coal to keep warm in their family, but coal is an non-renewable resource and it polluted air.

Now, most families in China use the solar energy to replace use coal to keep warm, because solar energy has many benefits, such as solar energy is a nature renewable resources, it does not damaging the environment and people use the solar energy can also salved money. For example, a lot of Chinese family use solar water heaters to replace gas water heaters, because solar water heaters are used solar energy. It does not need gas resources, so people can pay less on their gas bills. Also, using solar water heaters is more green initiative than using gas water heaters.

Except that, the solar energy also used to generate electicity in China. For instance, we have many solar power stations and solar street lights. Using solar energy helps us saving many non-renewble resources and makes the environment  getting better and better.
